Flambeed Bananas

    Shopping List

    • 1/4 cup butter
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar
    • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
    • 1/4 cup whipping cream
    • 3 firm medium or large bananas, cut into 1 inch pieces
    • 1/4 cup banana-flavoured liqueur (such as Creme de Banane)
    • 1/3 cup rum, or brandy
    • Ice cream - optional

    Instructions

    In a medium frying pan melt butter. Stir in brown sugar and cinnamon. Heat and stir until bubbling and sugar is melted.

    Stir in whipping cream. Add the bananas. Stir untl bananas are coated and remove from heat.

    In a small or medium saucepan, heat liqueaur and rum (or brandy) until warm. Carefully pour onto banana mixture in the frying pan. Heat on medium, shaking pan back and forth 2 or 3 times. Ignite surface with match. Shake pan back and forth several times until the flame extiguishes.

    Serve with vanilla ice cream or any other ice cream of your preference. Spoon sauce over banana until coated.
